This product is a supplementary food for large and medium birds of the Psittacidae family (parrots, parakeets, macaws, cockatoos, etc.). It is used to correct calcium deficiencies typical of seed mixtures and to cover the calcium demand during the laying stage.
Description
Directions for use :
It must be supplied in a separate feeder freely available or mixed together with other ingredients of the diet. The availability of calcium grit allows the voluntary intake of calcium required for Psittacidae birds in every moment. As an inert food, if the type of feeder prevents it to get wet or dirty, it may remain there for weeks without being damaged. In case of mixing it with dry or germinated seeds, it is recommended to add calcium grit with proportion of 1-1.2% of the diet during the breeding season and 0.3-0.5% for the rest station (the percentage calculation is done according to dry weight).
Daily intake:
The voluntary consume of calcium grit depends on the calcium deficiency of the ingest diet in every moment. The diets based on seed mixtures require a regular intake of calcium grit. Contrary, if the diet is based on the complete feed PSITTACUS range, its use must be sporadic. In both cases, its consumption increases significantly at the time of egg laying.
